PPM Level 1 builds important and life-saving defensive skills from the ground up.
PPM Level 1 was designed for students to spend a weekend learning something that can save their life. With this focus, students begin learning critical skills and movements that will be used as a framework for the entire PPM training structure.
Over the course of 2 days, students will cover 8 modules in succession.
PPM Level 1 Modules
1. Defensive Concepts
Survival mindset. Awareness. Assessing your situation. Assess, Plan, Act. Flinch Response. Getting off the X. Basic defence and offensive stances, movement and striking.
2. Ground Defence
How to survive getting knocked down, protect yourself while on the ground and fight you way to a safe location.
3. Defence Against Grabs and Chokes
Surviving common scenarios of being grabbed and choked, eliminate the threat and moving to a safe location.
4. Defence Against Blunt Weapons
Surviving being attacked with a blunt weapon, such as a bat, crow bar, truncheon and the like, disarm and incapacitate opponent and moving to a safe location.
5. Defence Against Edged Weapons – Pre-Contact
Surviving being attacked by edged weapons, such as a machete, fixed blade knife and folding knife, disarm and incapacitate opponent and moving to a safe location. Builds on the previous module.
6. Defence Against Edged Weapons – On-Contact
Surviving being held at knife point, disarm and incapacitate opponent and moving to a safe location. Builds on Module 2.
7. Defence Against Firearms
Surviving being held at gun point, disarm and incapacitate opponent and moving to a safe location. Builds on Modules 3 and 4.
8. Defence Against Multiple Attackers and Improvised Weapons
Builds on all modules.
